No. 2 Panthers Welcome Howard For Non-Conference Clash Monday Night

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's soccer team (2-1-0) returns home Monday night as the Howard Bison (0-2-0) come to town for a non-conference clash at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Monday's match will start at 7:00 pm and it will air live on ACC Network Extra.

- This meeting marks the 10th all-time between the two programs with the Panthers owning the 6-3-0 series advantage over the Bison.
- The Panthers have won six of the last seven meetings between the two teams after Howard began the series with the first two wins.
- The two teams last played in 2019 in Pittsburgh as the Panthers collected the 6-0 home victory.
- Pitt has outscored the Bison 25-9 in the all-time series.
- Howard enters Monday's game with a 0-2-0 record after dropping a pair of 2-0 games to Fairfield and Monmouth.
- The Bison have been outshot 25-12 through the first two games of the season while their opponents own the 13-8 edge in corner kicks.
- Howard returns their leading scorer from a season ago, Bryson Baker. The sophomore netted a team-high five goals as a freshman last season while earning NEC All-Rookie Team honors. He currently leads the team with four shots on the season.
- Sammy Oladeji will be looking to build on a strong sophomore season in which he netted four goals and 12 shots for the Bison.
- The Panthers have been one of the best teams in the country on their home turf over the last four seasons as they own a 26-3-1 record at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
- Pitt held a 19-match home winning streak from Oct. 7, 2019 to Nov. 10, 2021, which at the time was the longest streak in the ACC and second longest unbeaten streak in the nation.
- Head coach Jay Vidovich is 32-16-3 at home in his seven seasons at Pitt.
- Since the start of the 2019 season, Pitt has outscored its opponents 89-29 at home including a 43-12 advantage last season.
- The Panthers win percentage at home over the past four seasons is the best in the ACC (.883).

EXPERIENCED IN THE MIDFIELD
- Graduate student Jackson Walti has been a stalwart in the central midfield for the Panthers since stepping foot on campus in 2018.
- Walti currently leads all NCAA Division I soccer player in minutes played with 7,243 career minutes for Pitt. His 82 games played also the most by any Division I player.
- A native of Switzerland, Walti has appeared in 82 matches and started 79 across his career while adding four goals, five assists and 36 shots.
- Junior Filip Mirkovic also brings loads of experience to the field for the Panthers as he has appeared in 40 matches and started 36 across his young career.
- Mirkovic has posted six goals, seven assists and 19 points to go along with 43 shots in three years of action.
- Pitt has started to recruit international since head coach Jay Vidovich took over the program in 2015 and it has been a successful recipe for the Panthers.
- The Panthers have a total of 15 players on their roster from outside the US.
- In all, Pitt features players from eight different countries including Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Brazil, Netherlands, Italy and the USA.
