Panthers drop a four-set match at Fitzgerald Field House
PITTSBURGH – No. 7 Pitt (7-2) dropped its first home match of the season on Saturday evening inside Fitzgerald Field House. The Panthers fell to Towson (10-0) in four-sets (12-25, 23-25, 25-16, 18-25).

Towson came out with a clear emphasis on their blocking, making five blocks in the first 15 points and getting touches on nearly every Pitt attack. The Tigers jumped in front, 12-3 and never looked back, finishing with nine blocks and winning by 13 points.
SET 2: PITT 23 – TOWSON 25
The Panthers settled down in the second set but couldn't manage to string together enough points to break away. Both teams traded points from 16-16 to 22-22 but a Towson ace gave the Tigers a 24-22 lead ending in a two-point loss.
SET 3: PITT 25 – TOWSON 16
Pitt bounced back with a tremendous display of offense in the third. The Panthers started the set on a 12-6 run and never looked back hitting .600 as a team and putting away the Tigers for the moment. Valeria Vazquez Gomez and Dalton led the way with three kills each but it was the balance that won the day as five different Panthers registered multiple kills.
SET 4: PITT 18 – TOWSON 25
The fourth set went back and forth until a 5-0 Towson run took the score from a 14-16 deficit to a 14-21 hole. The Panthers couldn't climb out in time and came up short on the day.

The Panthers continue their seven-match homestand with a pair of Power 5 matches next weekend in Fitzgerald Field House.
