PITTSBURGH – Panther assistant softball coach Jenna Hall has accepted a position to become Ohio University's 12th softball head coach, as announced by Ohio athletic director Julie Cromer Thursday, July 28.
Hall returns to Ohio ten years after serving as assistant/associate head coach of the Bobcats from 2008-2012 under current Pitt head coach Jodi Hermanek.
"I want to thank Coach Hall for her service and personal impact she's made on Pitt Softball and on our Pitt Women," said Hermanek. "We congratulate Coach Hall and wish her the very best at Ohio University. I'm personally very excited for Jenna, as she's come full circle with her coaching journey and with the game starting at Ohio University years ago, to now leading the Bobcats as their new head coach. She is the right person for OU."
Hall served as assistant coach for the Panthers for three seasons from 2019-2022, coaching four All-ACC selections. Pitt most recently had three players bat over .300 during the 2022 season, including senior Yvonne Whaley who batted .344 with 45 hits en-route to All-ACC Third Team honors. Hall's offensive leadership aided Cami Compson and Sarah Seamans to impressive power numbers during the 2021 campaign as the two combined for 64 RBI, 24 home runs, 80 hits and 165 total bases.
Prior to Pitt, Hall was an assistant coach at Ohio State University from 2013 to 2019, helping lead the Buckeyes to four-straight NCAA appearances from 2016-19. Hall played professionally for the Philadelphia Force from 2006-08 after playing four years at the University of Illinois. A 2007 Illini grad, Hall was inducted into the Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019.
