Non-Conference Schedule For Women’s Basketball Announced

PITTSBURGH – On Friday afternoon, the Pitt women's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for 2022-23 season. The 11-game slate features seven contests at the Petersen Events Center and three in the sunshine state as the Panthers will compete in the inaugural Elevance Health Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament.
The Panthers non-conference opponents include two squads, Maryland and DePaul, that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
Pitt opens their 2022-23 campaign on the road in Baltimore, MD as they take on Coppin State on Monday, Nov. 7. The two teams met last season for the first time with the Panthers earning the 67-51 home victory.
The next three games for Pitt will be at the Petersen Events Center as they welcome George Mason on Saturday, Nov. 12, Bryant on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and cross-town rival Duquesne on Saturday, Nov. 19 for the City Game. The matchup with the Dukes marks the 40th all-time between the two sides with Pitt holding the 22-17 edge in the series. Pitt took down Duquesne 69-64 on the road last season to improve to 4-0 on the year.
Next up, Pitt will head south to Florida for the inaugural Elevance Health Fort Myers Tip-Off Tournament from Nov. 25-27. The Panthers will open the tournament against Towson on Friday, Nov. 25 followed by games against DePaul on Nov. 26 and Maryland on Nov. 27. All three games will be played at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, FL and will be streamed.
After the Thanksgiving tournament, Pitt will welcome Illinois for the 2022 ACC/B1G Challenge at the Petersen Events Center on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 5:00 pm. The game will air live on ACC Network and will make the Panthers' eighth challenge game in history. Pitt owns a 3-4 overall record in challenge games after downing Rutgers last season at the Pete, 58-50.
Pitt will conclude their non-conference slate with three games in December as they welcome Loyola (MD) on Wednesday, Dec. 7, Ball State on Sunday, Dec. 11 and North Alabama on either Tuesday, Dec. 20 or Wednesday, Dec. 21.
