Cross Country Announces 2022 Schedule

PITTSBURGH – Highlighted by a home meet at Schenley Park, the Pitt men's and women's cross country teams revealed their 2022 schedule Monday afternoon, as announced by head coach Alonzo Webb.
The Panthers 2022 campaign opens up on Friday, September 2 with a home meet for the fourth straight season as Pitt welcomes a handful of teams for the Panther Opener at Schenley Park. The season-opening meet will feature free admission for all fans. The men's race will begin at 8:45 am followed by the women's race at 9:15 am.
Pitt will then head to Charlottesville, VA for the Virginia Challenge Friday, September 16 for a preview of the course they will run on for the ACC Championships. After a week off, the Panthers will compete in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh Friday, September 30.
The regular season will come to an end Saturday, October 15 as the Panthers head out west to the Weis-Crockett Invitational in Stillwater, OK hosted by Oklahoma State. The race will be a preview for the NCAA Championships which will be hosted in Stillwater later in the fall.
The 2022 ACC XC Championships will be hosted by Virginia on Saturday, October 29 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, VA. Pitt will be looking to improve on their finishes a season ago, men (11th) & women (12th). The NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet will take place in State College, PA on Friday, November 11. The Pitt men posted their best finish in program history at the event last season as they took home fifth place with seven different runners posting top-50 finishes.
The 2022 season will conclude on Saturday, November 19 in Stillwater, OK with the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships hosted by Oklahoma State at the Greiner Family Oklahoma State cross country course.
The Pitt men return seven letter winners from a season ago including Luke Henseler, Ethan Maher, Jack Miller and Sam Otis who all ran at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet last season. Miller will be looking to build on a strong campaign that saw him earn All-Region honors for the first time in his career as he posted a 21st place finish at regionals. Henseler, Maher and Otis each earned personal best finishes at the regional meet as all three finished inside the top-40.
New to the men's squad for the 2022 campaign will be Monmouth transfer and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Most Outstanding Rookie from a season ago, Luke Miller. Miller, the younger brother of Jack Miller, will be looking to improve on his 72nd finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet as a freshman. Also new to Pitt are freshmen Ethan Feinstein, Ethan Fingerhut, Damian Frausto and Alex Holbrook.
On the women's side, the Panthers will return 13 athletes from a season ago including six, Mary Borkoski, Emily Brown, Sadie Carey-Tharp, Winnie Incorvaia, Emily Jobes and Caroline Rusinski, who competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals a season ago. The Panthers will be looking for Brown to take another step after leading Pitt finishers in five of the six meets a season ago while Jobes and Rusinski will be looking to make more of an impact in season two after posting great finishes at the regional meet to close out their freshmen campaigns, finishing in 64th and 65th places respectively.
New to the women's squad for the 2022 campaign will be transfers Allison Zolkiewicz (Virginia Tech) and Claire Hoffman (Kansas) along with three freshmen, Gianna Cagliola, Anna Cohen and Elizabeth Hunkele.
