No. 11 Pitt Falls 8-3 to No. 10 NC State in ACC Tournament Semifinals

CHARLOTTE – No. 11 seed Pitt baseball (29-27) fell 8-3 to No. 10 NC State (36-20) in the ACC Tournament Semifinals Saturday night at Truist Field.
The Wolfpack jumped out in the first inning with five runs on three homers.
The Panthers got on the board in the fourth inning. Sky Duff drew a leadoff walk, and Bryce Hulett reached on a fielding error from the pitcher. CJ Funk loaded the bases with two outs on a walk, and Brock Franks knocked in both Duff and Hulett with a single to centerfield.
NC State responded in the bottom of the inning with a sac fly and two-RBI single that came after a fielding error.
Ron Washington, Jr. hit a two-out solo homer to left field in the seventh inning, his 15th of the year and second of the tournament.

- Logan Evans started and went three innings with six earned runs, seven hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
- C.J. McKennitt recorded two scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts, two hits and no walks.
- Baron Stuart threw a scoreless eighth inning with no hits, one walk and one strikeout.
- Washington Jr.'s home run was the 52nd of this year's tournament, breaking the previous ACC Championship record of 51 set in 2010 (in 13 games) at Greensboro, North Carolina.
- Playing in his 200th career game, Washington, Jr. moved to in program history second in career homers (35) and career total bases (370) ahead of Jim Negrych (34 and 367, 2004-06), tied for fourth in career at-bats (755) with Casey Roche (2011-14), tied for 10th in career walks (88) with Dan Williams (2005-08) and tied for 19th in runs (119) with Jacob Wright (2015-17).
- His 15 homers this year are tied for 10th in a single season by a Panther.
- Stuart tied RJ Freure (2018) for third in pitching appearances (27).
- Tatem Levins moved into 10th for total bases (130) in a single season.
- Duff and Funk tied for seventh in walks (41).
