Pitt Opens ACC Tournament with Rematch Against Louisville

PITTSBURGH – Pitt Lacrosse plays its first postseason game in program history as they open up play in the 2022 ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship in the first round as the No. 8 seed against No. 9-seeded Louisville. The Panthers and Cardinals will face off at Arlotta Stadium on the campus of Notre Dame Wednesday, April 27 at 2 PM. The game will be live on the ACC Network.
Pitt ended its regular season with a win in their last game at Highmark Stadium, a 13-8 triumph over George Mason on April 19. The Panthers sit at 8-9 and 1-7 in ACC play.
Paige Petty leads the Panthers offense in goals (40), points (49), and draw controls (65). An All-ACC Second Team selection, Petty currently holds a streak of 78 consecutive games with a point and 45 with a goal.
Petty was joined on the second team by goalie Paulina DiFatta, who leads the league in saves (161), saves per game (9.47), and ground balls (46).
Louisville finished the regular season at 7-10 overall and 1-7 in the ACC. They lost their final game of 2022 15-14 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last week.
Graduate student Caroline Blalock was named to the All-ACC Second Team Tuesday and leads Louisville in assists (18) and ground balls (34). Ava Coyle earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team as she started 13 of 17 games for the Cardinals and has recorded 15 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Pitt defeated Louisville on April 9 for their first ACC win in program history, 17-10 at Highmark Stadium. Petty, Carlie Leach and Chloe Jones combined for 11 goals in the Panthers' victory.
The winner of Pitt-Louisville will face No. 1 North Carolina on Friday back at Arlotta Stadium.
