An error with two outs in the bottom of the inning gave the Eagles their first run, and they capitalized with three-run and solo homers in the next two at-bats.
The Panthers got a run in the next inning. With two outs, Washington, Jr. singled through the left side and Duff walked. Jack Anderson knocked in Washington, Jr. with a single to centerfield.
Pitt added two insurance runs in the seventh inning. With two outs, Funk hustled for an infield single, got to second base on a throwing error from the third baseman and scored on a double down the left field line from Tavarez. Jordan Anderson knocked in Tavarez with a single to left field.
The Eagles had the potential tying run at the plate in the ninth inning after a two-run homer with one out, but Pitt got two-straight outs to end the rally.
