ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Freshman Cameron Cash, among others, etched his name in the Pitt history books on the final day of the NCAA Zone A Championships, becoming the first freshman in school history to qualify for all three events in the NCAA Championships. Cash finished fifth overall in the men's platform final with a combined score of 675.45.
Along with Cash, senior Amy Read made Pitt history today, placing third in the women's platform competition to secure her an NCAA-qualifying spot in all three events for the second consecutive year. Read is the only diver in Pitt history to qualify for NCAAs four times.
In addition, junior Dylan Reed, who finished tenth in the men's platform finals will also compete in all three events in Atlanta later this month.
Between Reed and Cash, their six event spots combine to be the most in school history on the men's side, beating the previous record set last season (2021) with four. Additionally, the team's nine spots earned this week also sets a school record, surpassing 2021's record of eight.
The trio of Cash, Read, and Reed join alum Dominic Giordano as the only four Pitt divers to compete at NCAAs in all three events.
Also competing today on platform, sophomore Claire McDaniels placed 7th (480.40), senior Serena Buchwald finished 10th (458.90), followed by sophomore Emma Gravgaard in 14th (418.05) in the women's finals.
On the men's side, sophomore Jackson Salisbury placed 12th with a combined score of 607.60.
The Women's NCAA Championships will take place March 16-19, followed by the Men's Championships March 23-26. Both events will be held in Atlanta, Ga. at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
