Read to Represent Pitt at Women’s NCAA Championships

PITTSBURGH — Senior Amy Read will represent the University of Pittsburgh this week at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships March 16-19 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. All sessions will be available for streaming on ESPN3, and live results can be found on the MeetMobile app.

Read, a native of Leeds, England, made history at the NCAA Zone A Championships last week in Annapolis, Md. becoming the only Pitt diver to qualify for NCAA Championships all four years of their collegiate career. Read also qualified for all three events (1-meter, 3-meter, platform) for the second consecutive year and is one of only four divers in program history to accomplish this feat. She placed third on platform (542.75), seventh on 1-meter (555.00) and tenth on 3-meter (574.50).

Read was the only female finalist at the ACC Championships for the Panthers, advancing on platform to earn fourth overall with a score of 278.30.
Diving will begin Thursday, March 17 with the 1-meter competition. For all three events, preliminaries will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the consolation finals 10 minutes after prelims end. Finals will take place at 6 p.m. that same evening.

For each event, the top eight divers automatically clinch a spot in the finals. Those who place 9-16 in preliminaries will compete in the consolation finals immediately following the trial round.
