
Pitt Hosts Virginia Tech in Second ACC Contest

PITTSBURGH – Pitt Lacrosse is back in action Saturday, March 5 when the Panthers return to Highmark Stadium for an ACC contest against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The opening draw in Pittsburgh is set for 1 p.m. and the game can be streamed via ACC Network Extra and the ESPN app.
The Panthers are led by four-time All-America selection Paige Petty, who has 16 points (13 goals, 3 assists) and a team-leading 24 draw controls. Petty began her career at Virginia Tech where she finished her time with the Hokies ranked among the program leaders in points (T-1st – 227), goals (1st – 204) and draw controls (4th – 241).
Three other Panthers have 10 or more points with Kate Elam (10 goals, 1 assist), Madisyn Kittell (6 goals, 4 assists) and Kierin Ratliff-Kailbourne (6 goals, 4 assists). The veteran duo of Allyson Trice and Therese Pitman help anchor a defense with goalie Paulina DiFatta who has 42 saves on the year.
Virginia Tech sits at 3-3 so far in 2022 with wins over #13 James Madison, VCU and Radford and defeats at the hands of #18 Jacksonville, Liberty and Louisville. Last season, the Hokies went 5-11 and 1-8 in the ACC.
The Panthers will hit the road again for another ACC game at Duke on Thursday, March 10.
