PITTSBURGH – Pitt Lacrosse hosts No. 2 Boston College, the 2021 National Champions, Saturday, March 26 for an ACC matchup. The opening draw at Highmark Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be streamed via ACC Network Extra.
The Panthers are led offensively by four players with 20 or more points on the season, including four-time All-America selection Paige Petty with 28 (24G, 4A), sophomore Kate Elam with 25 (18G, 7A), graduate transfer Madisyn Kittell (12G, 10A), and senior Kierin Ratliff-Kailbourne (13G, 7A). Allyson Trice, Therese Pitman, Abby Thorne, and Brittney Villhauer anchor the Pitt defense and have started every game along with goalie Paulina DiFatta who has posted a 10.6 goals against average to go along with an ACC-best 89 saves.
Pitt stands at 5-5 overall and 0-4 in the ACC after a Monday victory over nonconference foe Niagara. Carlie Leach and Ava Washington each recorded a hat trick in the win. Petty, Pitt's leader in goals and draw controls, missed the Panthers game Monday against Niagara due to injury.
Boston College was handed their only loss so far this season last time out, against now No. 1 North Carolina. The Eagles are led by ACC scoring leader and 2021 Tewaaraton Award winner Charlotte North.
Pitt is back at Highmark Stadium for a quick turnaround with a non-conference game against Akron Monday, March 28 (5 p.m.). Admission is free for all Pitt Lacrosse home games this season.
