Panthers Hit the Road Again for ACC Game vs. #14 Virginia Friday

PITTSBURGH – Pitt Lacrosse is back on the road traveling this time to Charlottesville, Va., for a game Friday, March 18 against the 14th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The opening draw at Klockner Stadium is set for 5 p.m. and will air on ACC Network Extra.
The Panthers are led on offense by Paige Petty (24 goals, 4 assists), Kate Elam (16 goals, 4 assists), Madisyn Kittell (10 goals, 9 assists) and Kierin Ratliff-Kailbourne (10 goals, 7 assists). Carlie Leach with 11 (10 goals, 1 assist), and Chloe Jones (8 goals, 2 assists) also have 10 or more points on the season to compliment the scoring attack.
Allyson Trice, Therese Pitman, Abby Thorne, and Brittney Villhauer anchor the Pitt defense and have started every game along with goalie Paulina DiFatta who has posted a 10.35 goals against average to go along with an ACC-leading 8.63 saves per game.
Pitt got back in the win column last Sunday and is now 4-4 overall (0-3 ACC) with a 17-11 triumph over Binghamton. Petty scored five goals and DiFatta stopped nine shots to lead the Panthers to the victory.
Virginia is 4-5 so far and also 0-3 in conference like the Panthers. The Cavaliers are led on offense by Rachel Clark (31 goals, 5 assists) and Ashlyn McGovern (25 goals, 4 assists), while starting goalie Ashley Vernon is allowing 13.71 goals per game.
Following the matchup in Virginia, Pitt returns home for a Monday non-conference game vs. Niagara at Highmark Stadium.
