Wolter Set For Second Straight NCAA Indoor Championship Appearance Friday

PITTSBURGH – For the second straight indoor season, Felix Wolter will be searching for a national championship in the heptathlon at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Wolter collected his second straight ACC Indoor title and will be looking to become just the seventh NCAA Indoor Champion in program history and first since Lee McRae in the 55m dash in 1988. He will also be looking to become the first heptathlete in Pitt history and just the fifth in ACC history to earn a national title in the heptathlon.

- Wolter opens up the heptathlon on Friday at 10:00 am with the 60m dash.
- Three field events will wrap up Friday action for the ACC champion as he competes in the long jump at 11:00 am, shot put at 12:15 pm and high jump at 1:30 pm.
- He will open Saturday with the 60m hurdles at 10:30 am followed by the pole vault at 11:30 am.
- Competition will wrap up around 3:30 pm with the 1000m run.
- Wolter enters the championship meet ranked fifth in the NCAA in the heptathlon with a score of 5,979 which he posted at the ACC Indoor Championships to earn his second straight ACC title in the event.
- The four athletes ahead of Wolter this year are Ayden Owens (Arkansas), Kyle Garland (Georgia), Andrei Iosivas (Princeton) and Leo Neugebauer (Texas).
- Wolter took home fourth place last season at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships as Kyle Garland and Ayden Owens finished right ahead of him in second and third places, respectively.
- The indoor campaign concludes on Saturday afternoon and the Panthers will begin the outdoor campaign next weekend at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami.
