Volleyball Graduate Receives $10,000 Toward Postgraduate Education
INDIANAPOLIS – Chinaza Ndee, a former volleyball student-athlete and recent alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, was awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship toward her continuing education, as announced Monday.
Ndee will receive a one-time $10,000 scholarship as she pursues her dream of attending medical school.
Upon her arrival at Pitt in 2017, Ndee has consistently proven to be a high performer in her sport as well as an outstanding student. Using her extra year of eligibility in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she secured a second undergraduate degree in psychology after earning her first in natural sciences.
She set a new standard for academic success after becoming Pitt's first ACC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2020 season. Her achievements are expansive, as a 2020 Senior CLASS Award Top 10 finalist, a four-time member of the All-ACC Volleyball Academic Team (2017, 2019, 2020, 2021) in addition to three appearances on the ACC Honor Roll (2018, 2019, 2020).
As part of one of Pitt's top recruiting classes in history, Ndee made an immediate impact on the Pitt volleyball team's rise in national prominence over the last five years. Since her arrival on campus, the Panthers have secured their first three consecutive ACC Championships (2017, 2018, 2019), two NCAA Elite Eight appearances (2020, 2021) in addition to the school's first appearance in a women's NCAA Final Four (2021). She is a three-time All-America selection, with appearances on the second team (2020), third team (2021) and honorable mention cohort (2019). As a member of Pitt's prestigious Varsity Walk, her legacy will endure long after the conclusion of her undergraduate career.
