PROVIDENCE—The No. 20 Pitt wrestling team posted four pins and won nine individual matches on Friday night at Brown in a 41-3 victory at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Panthers (4-1, 0-0 ACC) have now won three straight duals – all by double-digit margins.
Coach Keith Gavin was facing a familiar face in the other corner in Bears (0-1) head coach Jordan Leen, who spent the past five years as the associate coach under Gavin in Pittsburgh.
But it was Gavin's squad who took an early lead thanks to another early pin by Colton Camacho at 125 and never looked back. Tyler Badgett at 149 pounds, Dazjon Casto at 157 and James Lledo at 184 also recorded falls for the Panthers in the dominant dual victory.
It was a night that well went for Pitt's young and old as true freshman Jared Keslar earned a win in his dual debut at 165 pounds, while veterans Micky Phillippi at 133 and Nino Bonaccorsi at 197 scored bonus-point victories for the Panthers in Providence.
Luca Augustine at 174 and heavyweight Jake Slinger rounded out Pitt's match winners, while redshirt freshman Emory Taylor fought hard in his dual debut at 141 pounds in place of No. 1 Cole Matthews.
Full results from Friday's Pitt-Brown dual are available below.
The Panthers will look for a fourth consecutive win on Sunday afternoon at Columbia. No. 20 Pitt will face the Lions in New York City at noon with ESPN+ providing coverage on ESPN3.com and the ESPN app.
