WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Pitt women's basketball team (7-6, 0-2 ACC) fell on the road Thursday night to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons by the score of 66-51. With the loss, Pitt falls to 0-2 in ACC play on the year.

Amber Brown led the way for Pitt with 12 points, six rebounds and two steals while Gabby Hutcherson came off the bench and netted 11 points, three rebounds and two assists in the loss. Liatu King finished with nine points and five rebounds while Dayshanette Harris had seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in the loss.

FIRST QUARTER

Liatu King started the scoring with a leaner in the lane before Maliyah Johnson netted her first bucket of the game with a layup from a bad angle to make it 4-4 early on.
Wake Forest scored the next nine points to take the 13-4 lead with two minutes to go in the first quarter before Amber Brown finished off a layup to end the run for the Demon Deacons.
The Demon Deacons scored the final six points of the quarter to take the 19-6 lead into the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

The Panthers were able to get within 12 at the media timeout as Dayshanette Harris finished off a layup and King netted her second layup of the game to make it 26-14 at the timeout.
After a pair of Wake Forest layups extended their lead to 30-14, the Panthers ended the quarter on an 8-4 run as King finished off a layup and free throw and Johnson ended the half with a contested layup. Pitt entered the locker room trailing the Demon Deacons 34-22.
The Panthers outscored Wake Forest 16-15 in the second quarter.

THIRD QUARTER

The Demon Deacons came out quick with back-to-back triples to force the Panthers into a timeout, trailing 40-24.
Gabby Hutcherson finished off back-to-back buckets to get Pitt back within 46-28 at the third quarter media timeout.
Hutcherson and Taisha Exanor finished off the quarter with buckets for the Panthers as they entered the fourth trailing 51-32.

FOURTH QUARTER

Pitt opened the fourth on an 11-2 run thanks to five straight points from Brown to cut the Panthers deficit down to 10, 53-43, with seven minutes to go in the game.
The Panthers couldn't get any closer as the Demon Deacons earned the 66-48 home victory.
Pitt outscored the Demon Deacons 19-15 over the final 10 minutes but weren't able to overcome the second half deficit in the loss.

Pitt finished the game shooting 34.5% from the floor while the Demon Deacons shot 38.9%.
Wake Forest held the slim 36-35 edge in rebounding while the Panthers turned 11 offensive rebounds into 11 points.
