Panthers Ink Jasmine Timmerson And Lauren Rust To National Letters Of Intent

PITTSBURGH – Fifth-year head coach Lance White has announced the signing of two student-athletes to the Pitt women's basketball program for the 2023-24 campaign, as announced Wednesday morning. Signing their National Letters of Intent to join the Panthers for next season are Jasmine Timmerson and Lauren Rust.
"We're so excited about bringing in this 2023 signing class," expressed head coach Lance White. "They have a winning mentality along with speed and athleticism which will make an immediate impact for us next season."
Jasmine Timmerson | 5-7 | Guard | Wexford, PA | North Allegheny
Timmerson, a Pittsburgh native, is entering her senior season at local North Allegheny High School where she helped lead the Tigers to a 21-4 record last season while notching their 10th straight section title in the process. The athletic point guard has earned back-to-back All-State selections as she earned the third team nod as a sophomore before being named First Team All-State last season after averaging 14.0 points per game. She also earned First Team All-Section by the Big 56 Conference after helping lead her squad to the WPIAL Semifinals and PIAA playoffs.
White on Timmerson: "Jasmine fits perfectly with my idea of what a point guard should be. She is fast, she can defend, and she has high basketball IQ. She makes her teammates better by making the right reads and knows how to put the ball in the basket when she needs to. We are looking forward to having her help our backcourt right away next season."
Lauren Rust | 6-1 | Forward | Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada | The Webb School
Rust, a 6-1 forward, is entering her senior season at The Webb School in Tennessee. As a junior, Rust helped her squad earn the Division II A Championship after netting 12 points, four rebounds and a block in 14 minutes of work. The athletic forward also plays volleyball at The Webb School as she recorded 53 kills and 18 aces during her junior campaign.
The British Columbia native played in the 17U Canadian Women's Championships this past summer and was named First Team All-Star after averaging 9.8 points and a tournament-best 11.2 rebounds per game. Her British Columbia squad took home the silver medal in the 17U Championship Tournament. Rust also competed in the 2022 Canada Games this past summer as she helped her squad earn a fifth-place finish in the U17 women's division as she netted a game-high 15 points against Nova Scotia.
White on Rust: "Lauren is an all-around phenomenal athlete. She has a non-stop motor and does all the intangibles the right way. She is a strong, athletic forward who can rebound well on both ends of the floor while her tenacity on both ends will be a huge asset for us next season."
Timmerson and Rust will look to make an immediate impact on a talented Panthers roster for the 2023-24 campaign.
