PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's diving team finished strong against George Washington in a diving only meet Saturday morning at Trees Pool.
Senior Dylan Reed and sophomore Jess Vega both earned first place in each the platform, 1-meter and 3-meter events. Vega set a personal record in all three events and Reed set a new personal record in the 1-meter.
"Dylan and Jess both had a phenomenal two days," said head diving coach Katie Kasprzak. "Their confidence has improved more and more and I'm excited to watch them grow."
Seven Panthers earned their NCAA Zone Cuts, including five qualifying for all three diving events: Reed (platform, 1-meter, 3-meter), Cameron Cash (platform, 1-meter, 3-meter), Jackson Salisbury (platform, 1-meter, 3-meter), Josh Parquet (platform, 1-meter, 3-meter), and Jess Vega (platform, 1-meter, 3-meter).
"The meet was really fun and had a lot of energy," said Kasprzak. "It's great to see so many of the divers get their zone scores this early in the season. I'm excited to see their confidence carry on as we go into our mid-conference meet next week."
The diving scores will carry over to the overall dual meet scores against George Washington. The meet will continue with swimming only events Nov. 18-19 at Trees Pool.
The Panthers men's and women's diving program will be back in action Nov. 17-19 at the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
