Panthers Return to Mat in Action-Packed Blue-Gold Dual

PITTSBURGH—Fans got their first glimpse of the 2022-23 University of Pittsburgh wrestling team on Friday night during Blue-Gold Dual action at Fitzgerald Field House.
With some star returners and solidified starters not competing, Pitt's intrasquad exhibition allowed several newcomers to showcase their skills for the Panthers' fans for the first time.
True freshmen Dayton Pitzer, Mac Stout and Kelin Laffey each produced dominant bonus-point wins in their first matches as Panthers on the Fitzgerald Field House mats, while transfers Dazjon Casto and Holden Heller also impressed and stamped their claims to be starters this season.
Also looking good and making statements to Keith Gavin that they should be in Pitt's starting lineup for upcoming duals were Colton Camacho at 125 pounds, Holden Heller at 165 and Luca Augustine at 174.

Pitt officially begins its wrestling season next weekend with the Clarion Open on Sunday, Nov. 6.
The Panthers will host their home opener at Fitzgerald Field House against Maryland on Friday, Nov. 18 with a 7 p.m. start before welcoming in-state rival Lehigh to Pittsburgh on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
Fans can purchase season tickets for Pitt's 2022-23 wrestling home schedule, which also features exciting matchups with West Virginia, Iowa State, North Carolina, Duke and Buffalo at this link.
