Former Panther named NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Former Pitt Softball catcher Walker Barbee was honored as one of eleven coaches to garner the 2022 Easton/NFCA Assistant Coaches of the Year award, announced by the association Thursday afternoon.
Barbee joined the softball coaching staff at her alma mater of West Stanly High School immediately after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021. Barbee helped lead the Colts to a conference, regional, and a North Carolina state title in 2022. The North Carolina native primarily works as the hitting instructor as well as working with the programs' catchers and serving as the third base coach.
In three seasons with the Panthers, Barbee compiled a .220 batting average and a .974 fielding percentage.
