Softball’s First Weekend Opponents Announced

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball team's full regular season schedule is complete with the announcement of the Panthers' first weekend opponents in the Northern Lights Southern Nights Tournament in Leesburg, Fla., Feb. 11-13.
Pitt opens 2022 against Penn State Friday, Feb. 11 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 12:45 p.m. first pitch versus Akron the same day. Saturday the 12th sees the Panthers play UConn at 10:30 a.m. and Merrimack at 1 p.m. followed by one game Sunday, Feb. 13 versus Michigan State at 11:30 a.m. to close out the tournament.

Pitt's first home game of the season is Wednesday, Mar. 16 (5:30 p.m.) against the Nittany Lions of Penn State. The Panthers play host to four 2021 NCAA Championship teams this year, including three game series' against Notre Dame (Mar. 18-20), Virginia Tech (Mar. 25-27), Clemson (April 8-10) and a midweek contest against Saint Francis (April 6).
Vartabedian Field is home to the 2022 ACC Championship for the first time in program history, with day one coverage beginning Wednesday, May 11.
