PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh wrestling program and head coach Keith Gavin announced a schedule update today that will see the Panthers host Army West Point and Michigan on Sunday (Jan. 9) at noon for duals at Fitzgerald Field House.
Friday's previously scheduled home match (Jan. 7) against Penn, which was slated for 7 p.m., has been canceled due to health and safety protocols within the Quakers' team.
Fans with season tickets can use any of their tickets to gain entry to Fitzgerald Field House on Sunday. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the entrance. Parking will be available in the OC Lot.
Free Pitt wrestling 2021-22 schedule posters will also be available for all fans in attendance.
Action will be streamed on ACC Network Extra via the ESPN app.
The Panthers (3-2) are currently ranked No. 21 in the NWCA Coaches Poll after winning the Illinois MatMen Open to finish a hugely successful 2021 calendar year for the program.
The Black Knights (0-4) have yet to win a dual this season, with all four defeats coming to teams currently ranked in the top 15 nationally. Army West Point finished third in the EIWA last season and placed 41st nationally at the NCAA Championships.
Pitt and Army haven't met in wrestling since 1993. The Panthers lead the all-time series, 10-9, but the Black Knights triumphed in the prior seven meetings between the programs.
Pitt's matchup with No. 3 Michigan will follow the conclusion of the first dual on Sunday. The Wolverines (3-0) lead their all-time series with the Panthers, 23-9-1, with the programs last meeting in 2015.
There will also be additional matches between Pitt and Michigan wrestlers after dual action concludes.
