
Panthers Return to Action Friday Evening With RMU Colonial Invitational

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh cross country programs return to the Youthtowne cross country course in Clinton, PA on Friday evening for the RMU Colonial Invitational. Friday's race at Youthtowne marks the second straight meet on the course to open the 2021 campaign.
Friday's meet will open up with the women's 6K race at 5:00 pm followed by the men's 8K race at 5:45 pm. The address for the Youthtowne Sports Complex is 150 Youthtowne Drive, Imperial, PA 15126 and admission for the event is free.
The other six teams competing Friday will be the hosts Robert Morris, Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, IUP, Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State.
Pitt opened up the 2021 season two weeks ago at the Yinzer Classic on the same course as the men's squad picked up the team victory while the women's team took home second place. The men had five runners post top-10 finishes while the women had three finish inside the top-12 in the season opening meet.
The men were paced by redshirt sophomore Jack Miller who was able to secure his first collegiate victory at the Yinzer Classic as he finished the 6K course in 18:47.50 while Evan Addison finished in third place in 18:56.50. Luke Henseler and Josh Higgins posted fifth and sixth place finishes, respectively, while freshman Solomon Chavez opened up his Pitt career with a 10th place finish in 19:36.70.
On the women's side, sophomore Emily Brown was the highest finisher for the Panthers as she posted a third place finish in 15:09.50 while freshman Emily Jobes had a strong debut for Pitt as she finished in sixth place in 15:15.80. Sophomore Olivia Zambrio took home 12th place in 15:26.50 while the freshmen duo of Isabella Bufalini and Sarah Hurst took home 16th and 17th place, respectively.
Following Friday's meet at Youthtowne, Pitt will have a week off before heading to South Bend, IN for the Joe Piane Invitational at the Notre Dame Golf Course on Friday, October 1.
