Myers Selected in MLB Draft by Oakland Athletics

PITTSBURGH — Pitt pitcher Mitch Myers was picked in the 12th round of the MLB draft with the No. 368 pick by the Oakland Athletics Tuesday. The 46th NCAA Division I pitcher drafted under Pitt head coach Mike Bell, Myers is the highest drafted Panther since 2018 when RJ Freure was selected in the sixth round by the Houston Astros and Matt Pidich went in the eighth round to the Cincinnati Reds.
The junior right-hander was the No. 1 ace for the Panthers this season and earned a selection to the All-ACC Third Team. With eight quality starts in ACC play, Myers posted a 5-5 record with a 1.24 WHIP, 3.21 ERA, a team-high 83 strikeouts to 23 walks and a .249 opposing batting average. He ranked in the conference sixth in ERA and 10th in innings pitched (81.1).
