PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team will take on Texas A&M, Northwestern and South Dakota in the 2021 Paradise Jam on Nov. 25-27 in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, as announced by tournament officials.
The Panthers will open up play in the Reef Tournament on Thursday, November 25 against Texas A&M at 8:00 pm EST. The Aggies earned the Southeastern Conference Championship last season as they finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 25-3 overall record and a 13-1 SEC record while advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season.
Pitt will close out the Thanksgiving tournament by taking on Northwestern on Friday, November 26 at 5:45 pm EST and South Dakota on Saturday, November 27 at 5:45 pm EST. The Wildcats posted a 16-9 overall record and an 11-7 Big Ten mark as they advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. South Dakota collected their second straight Summit League title and posted an overall record of 19-6 and a conference mark of 12-2. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament but fell in the opening round to Oregon.
This marks the second time the Panthers have appeared in the Paradise Jam as they took home third place in the Island Division in 2015.
For the first time, all games will be streamed live on ESPN3 or ESPN+. The event gives teams a guaranteed three games, splitting the field into two, four-team tournaments. The champion of each division will be determined by best record, with scoring margin as the tiebreaker.
More information on fan packages and tickets will be provided later this summer. For updates on the tournament visit paradisejam.com and check out the Paradise Jam on Twitter @paradisejam.
