Pitt Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Honors

RICHMOND, Va. — Pitt men's and women's swimming & diving garnered the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) 2021 Scholar All-America Team Honors, the organization announced Tuesday. The teams earned the honor after posting GPAs of 3.25 (men) and 3.41 (women) respectively.
Teams were selected based on recent grade-point averages, which resulted in both Pitt programs earning national acknowledgment for success in the classroom during this past year.
"Coach (John) Hargis led the Panthers through an especially challenging season, and continued to produce winners in the pool and classroom," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of Pittsburgh and Athletic Director (Heather) Lyke, Chancellor (Patrick) Gallagher, and Dr. Sheila Velez-Martinez (Faculty Athletic Representative) can and should be proud of these 57 men & women."
In total, 721 programs from 426 institutions earned the honor. CSCAA will name its individual Scholar All-America team next week.
