GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second straight season, senior cross country captain Zach Lefever was named to the All-ACC Cross Country Academic Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
Lefever becomes just the fourth Panther in program history to earn the academic recognition two times in a career, joining teammate Nick Wolk (2016, 2018), Gillian Schriever (2015, 2016) and Chris Montgomery (2014, 2015).
"Congratulations to Zach whom always represents the team and the university with class," said head coach Alonzo Webb. "It's nice to be recognized going above and beyond in the classroom and in your sport, the true meaning of a student-athlete. Receiving this recognition as an All-ACC Academic Team member is well deserved."
Lefever, an architectural studies major with a 3.19 cumulative GPA, capped an abbreviated cross country campaign for the Panthers with two strong meets as he posted a third place finish at Navy before posting the highest finish for Pitt at the ACC Cross Country Championships. Lefever posted a season-best time of 24:10.20 to secure the 39th place finish in the talented field in Cary, NC.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
