PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh track and field team will open up their outdoor schedule this weekend with a pair of meets as part of the squad will travel down to Miami for the Hurricane Invitational while others will travel to Morgantown for the Stan Romanoski Open hosted by West Virginia.
The Hurricane Invitational will run from Friday, Mar. 19 until Saturday, Mar. 20 while the Stan Romanoski Open will be on Saturday, Mar. 20.

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh track and field team will open up their outdoor schedule this weekend with a pair of meets as part of the squad will travel down to Miami for the Hurricane Invitational while others will travel to Morgantown for the Stan Romanoski Open hosted by West Virginia.
The Hurricane Invitational will run from Friday, Mar. 19 until Saturday, Mar. 20 while the Stan Romanoski Open will be on Saturday, Mar. 20.

- The meet will open up on Friday with the discus (men followed by women) starting at 12:30 pm. Pole vault and high jump will follow at 3:00 pm.
- The men's and women's 3,000m run will take place at 5:00 pm and 5:20 pm, respectively on Friday.
- Field events will open up action Saturday with the javelin at 11:00 am and conclude with the hammer, shot put and triple jump, all starting at 2:30 pm.
- Track events on Saturday will begin at 1:00 pm with the women's 4x100m relay and they will conclude at around 5:10 pm with the men's 4x400m relay.
- The one-day meet will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday with the hammer throw (men followed by the women). The field events will conclude at 4:00 pm with the javelin.
- Track events will kick off at 2:00 pm with the women's 5000m run followed by the men's 5000m run at 2:25 pm. The meet will conclude with the women's and men's 4x400m relays which will begin at 6:45 pm and 6:55 pm, respectively.
- The Panthers are coming off of an abbreviated indoor campaign which included four regular season meets and two postseason meets.
- For the first time since 2014, the Panthers sent a pair of athletes to compete in the NCAA Championships as Felix Wolter qualified in the heptathlon and Greg Lauray qualified in the high jump.
- Making his NCAA's debut, Wolter impressed as he was able to take fourth place overall with a program record 5,907 points. The senior had five personal record marks in the seven events as he earned First Team All-American honors to become the first Pitt heptathlete to earn All-America recognition. He also became the first Panther since 2014 to earn First Team All-American honors.
- Lauray didn't perform as well as he would've liked to at the NCAA's after he qualified for the second straight season. The senior wasn't able to clear a height but was still able to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors after a strong indoor campaign.
- After a strong regular season, the Pitt men had their highest finish in program history at the ACC Indoor Championships as they tied for fourth with a program record 48 points.
- The Pitt men had a program record 14 All-ACC honorees including a pair of First team members.
- Senior transfer Felix Wolter impressed in his first ACC Indoor Championship appearance as he notched the victory in the heptathlon with 5,632 points. He became the first Pitt heptathlete to win the ACC crown.
- After seeing the 2020 outdoor campaign canceled due to Covid-19, the Panthers will return to action outside for the first time since the 2019 campaign.
- The 2019 outdoor campaign was a strong one for the Panthers as the men's team posted a program-best fourth place finish at the ACC Championships while the women finished in 14th place.
- The Panthers placed a program record 17 student-athletes on the All-ACC squad including three First Team members.
- In total, Pitt sent 20 athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary and had one qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 400m hurdles.
- Pitt will send athletes to three different meets next week as they will compete in the Texas Relays and Raleigh Relays from Thursday, Mar. 25 until Saturday, Mar. 27. Pitt will also take part in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Mar. 27.
