Panthers Fall to Virginia in Final Day of ACC Pod Play

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell, 12-3, to Virginia in the final day of ACC Pod Play Sunday afternoon at Dail Softball Stadium on the campus of NC State.
NEWS & NOTES
Virginia answered in the top of the fourth with three runs. Two hit by pitches sent in one run for the Cavaliers, while a two RBI single from Arizona Ritchie put the Hoos up 3-2.
The Panthers tied it at 3-3 courtesy of senior Hunter Levesque, who roped a RBI triple to right center field, scoring junior Katlyn Pavlick. Virginia again answered, this time with four runs as the Hoos took a four run, 7-3 advantage into the bottom of the fifth.
The Cavalier pitching held Pitt to just two hits for the remainder of the game and the Virginia offense tacked on five more runs to win by a final of 12-3.
The Panthers next play four games in two days in Macon, Ga., in the Black and Orange Challenge hosted by Mercer. First game is Friday, Feb. 26 against Toledo at 1:30 P.M.

NEWS & NOTES
- Sophomore EC Taylor went 3-for-4 with three singles and four stolen bases. She is the first player in Pitt softball history to swipe four bags in one game. Taylor ended the weekend 7-for-15 with two doubles, one RBI and six stolen bases.
- Junior Sarah Seamans went 1-for-4 with a two run home run, her first of the season. Seamans totaled seven RBI, two doubles and four hits for the weekend.
