PITTSBURGH—For the second time in as many days, Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison has been named a first team All-American by one of the NCAA's officially recognized selectors.
Addison received first-team honors today on the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America Team, presented in partnership with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. He was joined by quarterback Kenny Pickett, who was a second-team pick by the FWAA.
Yesterday Addison and Pickett were both first-team selections on the Walter Camp All-America Team.
The FWAA and Walter Camp teams are among the five used in the NCAA's selection of an annual consensus All-America team in college football. The others are the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Associated Press and Sporting News, which will each be announced in the coming days.
This has been a highly decorated week for the Pitt sophomore wideout. In addition to his All-America accolades, Addison was named the winner of this year's Biletnikoff Award, annually presented to the country's outstanding receiver. He is the Panthers' third winner of the Biletnikoff, joining Larry Fitzgerald (2003) and Antonio Bryant (2000).
This season Addison compiled 93 receptions for 1,479 yards (15.9 avg.) and a national-best 17 touchdowns. His yardage ranks third in the country and first among Power 5 receivers.
Addison collected seven 100-yard receiving games this season, including his memorable 202-yard, four-touchdown effort in the Panthers' Coastal Division-clinching win over Virginia last month.
In Pitt single-season annals, Addison's receiving yardage and scoring receptions are second only to Fitzgerald, who had 1,672 yards and 22 scores in 2003. Addison is also second at Pitt in receptions in a season. He needs just four catches in Pitt's bowl game to eclipse Maurice Ffrench's record of 96 set in 2019.
Pickett, a Heisman Trophy finalist and recipient of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, has completed 67% of his passes (334 of 497) for 4,319 yards with 42 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. Including his five rushing scores, he has totaled 47 touchdowns this season.
Pickett's passing yardage, passing touchdowns, total TDs and completions are all Pitt season records. He also set an ACC season record for touchdown passes (eclipsing the prior mark of 41 set by Clemson's Deshaun Watson in 2016).
Addison and Pickett helped lead the Panthers to an 11-2 record, their first ACC championship and a berth in the Dec. 30 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where they will face Michigan State (10-2).
The game, which will be nationally televised by ESPN and kick off at 7 p.m., marks Pitt's first New Year's Six bowl in the College Football Playoff era.
