King, Crivello Named Pitt Student-Athletes of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Liatu King of women's basketball and Raphaël Crivello of men's soccer were named the Pitt Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
King, a sophomore, had her best week as a Panther last week at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, as she averaged a double-double across three games. King finished off the 1-2 week for Pitt averaging 11.7 points and 14.3 rebounds while shooting 52 percejt from the floor. She opened up the tournament against No. 23 Texas A&M with her first career double-double as she netted 10 points and a career-high 19 rebounds (six offensive) as the Panthers nearly picked up the victory over the Aggies without leading scorer Jayla Everett. King backed up that performance with the best game of her career in the win over Northwestern as she netted a career-high 23 points and 19 rebounds (tying her career-high). She became the first Pitt player since Chelsea Cole in 2010 to record two straight games with at least 19 rebounds. She finished off her tournament with the game-tying shot against South Dakota that sent the game to overtime while also grabbing five rebounds in the loss. The Washington, D.C., native is currently tied for second in the ACC in rebounding (10.3 rpg).
Crivello, a junior defender, scored a career-high two goals in Pitt's 4-0 shutout victory over Hofstra in the NCAA Tournament Third Round Saturday. He recorded Pitt's second and fourth goals of the evening as the Panthers earned their 11th home victory of the year, setting a new single-season program record. With the victory, Pitt moves on to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal round for the second consecutive season.
