PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh welcomed college wrestling fans back to the Fitzgerald Field House on Thursday night as a good crowd showed up to watch the Pitt Blue-Gold Dual.
The Panthers didn't disappoint on the mat, with several exciting matches, entertaining scrambles, two sudden-victory takedowns and one pin by Pitt's returning NCAA finalist Jake Wentzel.
Head coach Keith Gavin will use Thursday's results to help set Pitt's lineup for the 2021-22 season.
"It was great to have a crowd here and to wrestle at home in front of fans again," Gavin said. "Up and down the lineup, we saw several guys do things well. But also saw a few things we need to work on."
Here are the results from Thursday's Pitt Blue-Gold Dual:
Pitt will open its home schedule against Maryland on Monday, Nov. 22 at the Fitzgerald Field House.
