
No. 4 Panthers Roll to 3-1 Win over Seminoles

Panthers Top Florida State on the Road
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 4 Pitt volleyball team (17-1, 7-1 ACC) ended Florida State's (12-5, 5-3 ACC) 17-match home win streak at Tully Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers are 11-0 when playing away from Pittsburgh this season and 7-0 in true road matches. Pitt earned the Sunday win by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-13, 25-14. The Panthers had the advantage over the Seminoles in kills (59-46), assists (51-43), digs (69-62), blocks (13.0-7.0) and hitting percentage (.295-.126). Each team had four service aces.
With her fourth of the match, junior setter Lexis Akeo became the 10th player in program history to record 2,000 career assists. Following Sunday's match, she ranks 10th all-time for Pitt with 2,012 assists.
Three Panthers recorded double-doubles: outside hitter Kayla Lund with match highs of 17 kills and 15 digs, fellow outside Leketor Member-Meneh with 13 kills and 15 digs and setter Kylee Levers with 19 assists and 13 digs.
Middle blocker Sabrina Starks had a standout performance with eight kills on 10 swings with one error for a .700 hitting percentage to go along with a match-best eight blocks.
Right side hitter Chinaza Ndee was the third Panther with double figures in the kill column, contributing 11 on .333 hitting.
SET ONE: No. 4 Pitt 25, Florida State 20
Pitt hit .387 for the first frame, a Ndee led the Panthers with five kills. A 7-2 run pushed Pitt's advantage to 11-7, and later, a 5-1 run gave the Panthers a 16-10 lead. The Seminoles were able to cut their deficit to 23-20 after a 5-2 run, but back-to-back kills from Ndee ended the set in Pitt's favor.
SET TWO: Florida State 25, No. 4 Pitt 23
The Panthers found themselves in a 16-11 deficit midway through the second set. Pitt tried to mount a comeback, eventually tying the frame at 23 after a 5-0 surge, but it proved to be too little, too late. Back-to-back Seminoles kills ended the set and evened the match at one frame apiece.
SET THREE: No. 4 Pitt 25, Florida State 13
After a 3-0 FSU run cut Pitt's lead to 14-11, the Panthers answered with 10 consecutive points to gain set point, 24-11. A Seminole kill and a Pitt attack error set the score at 24-13, but Lund ended the frame with an emphatic kill. The Panthers went up, 2-1, in the match, after hitting .250 for the frame and holding Florida State to a negative clip (-.023).
SET FOUR: No. 4 Pitt 25, Florida State 14
Another long run put the Panthers in front by a good margin, with a 7-0 surge resulting in a 14-7 lead. Pitt extended the margin to 20-12 and only allowed two more points in the match, winning 25-14.

A hotly anticipated weekend is next for the No. 4 Panthers, as they travel to face Notre Dame (Oct. 22) and No. 2 Louisville (Oct. 24) to complete their four-match road trip.
