PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team begins a run of five straight weekends in Atlantic Coast Conference action by hosting Duke on Saturday at the Fitzgerald Field House at 10 a.m.
The Panthers, ranked No. 12 by the NWCA Coaches Poll this week, are coming off a resounding 24-9 home win over No. 17 Lehigh last Saturday, and will look for an eighth consecutive victory against the Blue Devils this Saturday morning in the ACC.
Due to the capacity regulations following direction from the Governor's office, the general public will not be able to attend Saturday's Pitt-Duke wrestling dual at the Fitzgerald Field House.
The conference matchup between the Panthers (2-0) and Blue Devils (0-0) will be broadcast by ACC Network Extra online and via the WatchESPN app at this link.
After the dual, additional matchups between Pitt and Duke wrestlers will also be shown at this link.
Pitt head coach Keith Gavin is looking for his second 3-0 start with the Panthers, who haven't opened a dual season with three consecutive team wins since 2018-19.
The Panthers' strong start to the season has not only seen Pitt move up to No. 12 in the NWCA Coaches Poll but several individuals are also rising in the rankings of their respective weight classes.
InterMat handed Micky Phillippi the No. 4 spot at 133 pounds, while also ranking Nino Bonaccorsi at No. 5 at 197 pounds.
No. 7 Jake Wentzel at 165 pounds, No. 14 Cole Matthews at 141 pounds and No. 18 Gregg Harvey at 184 pounds round out the Panthers in the InterMat polls this week.
Duke's only ranked probable starter is two-time NCAA qualifier Josh Finesilver at 149 pounds, who returns after a 2020 redshirt and recently featured at No. 19 in the InterMat rankings.
