PITTSBURGH – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced several schedule changes for the University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team on Friday afternoon.
As a result of the Virginia women's basketball program opting out of the remainder of the season, the Panthers home game against the Cavaliers scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 31 has been canceled.
The league announced the rescheduled game between Pitt and North Carolina will take place in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2:00 pm. The UNC game was originally scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 3 before being postponed due to ACC COVID-19 protocols.
The Panthers are 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the ACC but haven't played a game since Dec. 20 at Florida State as they were downed 67-53. So far this season, the Panthers are led offensively by junior Jayla Everett who ranks third in the ACC in scoring (17.7 ppg) while also connecting on 23 triples, a Pitt program record for three-pointers made through six games. Dayshanette Harris is also enjoying a strong start to the season as she is averaging 16.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists while scoring in double figures in all six games this season.
Pitt returns to action Thursday, Jan. 21 as they welcome the Miami Hurricanes to the Petersen Events Center for a 6:00 pm tip on the ACC Network. The Panthers will be looking to win their second home ACC game of the season while also improving to 4-1 overall in home games.
