PITTSBURGH – Head Coach Jodi Hermanek and the Pitt softball staff added Cameron Compson to the 2020 recruiting class today. Compson officially signed her NLI and will be immediately eligible for competition for the 2021 season.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine my softball journey would lead me to Pitt," said Compson. "From the first call with the coaches it felt like family. I am honored and beyond excited to be a Panther!"
Compson, from Westerville, Ohio, attended Westerville Central where she had a standout junior season, earning Division I Second Team All-State honors as an outfielder. The Warhawks finished 25-3 with a perfect 10-0 record in conference play in 2019, reaching the OHSAA Division I semifinals. That same season, Westerville reached number nine in the power rankings for the state of Ohio.
"We are excited to add Cami to our Pitt Softball family," said Hermanek. "Cami is going to strengthen our roster with a bat known for power and complement our outfield depth with her athleticism. What we are intrigued with mostly about Cami is how hungry she is to grow and gain at the next level."
Compson joins fall signees Kaitlyn Burdick, Jack Busch, Danielle Drogemuller and Yanna Marrow to the 2020 recruiting class.
