PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh football program announced today that the Panthers have partnered with renowned brand marketing consultant and best-selling author Jeremy Darlow.
"At Pitt, the young men in our program are far more than just football players. They are students, leaders, citizens and future professionals who will make their mark on the world in many different ways," Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said. "We want to equip our student-athletes with skills and knowledge that will serve them for the rest of their lives. That's why I'm so excited about our new partnership with Jeremy Darlow, who has a national reputation for helping student-athletes build their own personal brand. Jeremy shares our commitment to developing the total person, and I know our team is going to benefit greatly from his outstanding workshops and experiences."
"Between the professional opportunities that exist within the city of Pittsburgh and the fact that the athletic department employs the largest life skills staff in college athletics, there's no question that the University of Pittsburgh is an ideal place to not only play football, but to also build a plan for life after sports," Darlow said. "The university's commitment to their players is exceptional and I'm proud to call the Panthers a partner."
With this partnership, Pitt's football players will have access to Darlow's online course, The DARLOW Rules, which is dedicated to college student-athletes how to develop and grow their personal brands.
Pitt's student-athletes already benefit from the nationally recognized Cathy and John Pelusi Family Life Skills Program, which prepares the Panthers for success during and after their college experience through career development counseling, graduate school preparation, community service initiatives, financial education and various leadership and personal development activities.
In addition to having access to one of the most comprehensive life skills programs in collegiate athletics, members of the Pitt football team will now also have the opportunity to speak directly with Darlow to utilize his expertise in marketing to understand how to develop and maximize their individual brands.
"We are excited to partner with Jeremy Darlow," said Penny Semaia, Pitt's senior associate athletic director for student life. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences that align with our mission in Life Skills, which is to prepare our student-athletes for success today and beyond. Jeremy's program will help our student-athletes maximize their potential in preparing for life beyond sports."
An expert in the field of brand marketing, Darlow previously served as the director of marketing for adidas football and baseball. The author of best-selling books "Brands Win Championships" and "Athletes are Brands Too," Darlow has worked with several colleges, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and UCLA; various individuals athletes that include Aaron Rodgers, Von Miller, Lionel Messi and Dale Earnhardt Jr.; and celebrities such as rappers Kanye West and Snoop Dogg.
