Walker Barbee: Dear Pittsburgh

Dear Pittsburgh,
I have always been a huge ACC fan, especially growing up in North Carolina where there are the two biggest basketball rivals. But when I was looking for my forever home, something special stood out to me at Pitt.
When I drove through the Fort Pitt Tunnel and saw the beautiful city in front of me with the winding rivers and amazing bridges, it was breathe taking. I am from a small one stop light town, the thought of being in a big city so far from home was scary at first. But when I pictured myself in a Pitt uniform, I was filled with so much pride and knew it was the place I wanted to be.
It had been my dream to play college softball at an elite level since I was little. Pitt gave me the opportunity to live out my dream. It still awes me every day that I get to wear P-I-T-T across my chest daily. I am part of something so much bigger than myself- an awesome Panther Family.
The memories I have made with my teammates will always hold such a special place in my heart but the impact the University has had on me is life changing."
