
Panthers Win Tri-Meet at Fitzgerald Field House

Pitt Posts Program Top-10 Scores on Beam, Floor
PITTSBURGH – The Pitt gymnastics team (5-4, 2-3 EAGL) won a tri-meet at Fitzgerald Field House Saturday afternoon, defeating Towson (6-3, 1-3 EAGL) and Yale (8-4, 1-1).
The Panthers recorded program top-10 scores on balance beam (49.075, T-eighth) and floor exercise (49.275, T-ninth) en route to their third-highest overall score of the season at 194.700. Towson came in second at 193.200, with Yale in third at 193.050.
Pitt earned four out of a possible five individual titles, with senior Alecia Petrikis winning vault (9.850) and floor (9.900), and senior Michaela Burton picking up uneven bars (9.775) and beam (9.875). Petrikis' 9.900 on floor marked a career high.
VAULT
Led by Petrikis' 9.850, the Panthers earned a strong start with a season-best score on vault at 48.975. Senior Deven Herbine placed second overall with a 9.825, and freshman Ciara Ward rounded out the podium with a career-best 9.800.
BARS
Despite low scoring on bars, Burton earned the individual title with a 9.775. Ward followed with a 9.700. Pitt totaled 47.375 for the event to make its two-rotation score 96.350.
BEAM
Pitt's 49.075 on beam tied its best score on the event this season, as well as the No. 8 beam team score in program history. Burton picked up her second individual win of the day, marking her third win on the apparatus this season with a 9.875. Junior Haley Brechwald earned a season-best 9.825 and tied for second place overall. Through three rotations, Pitt held a team score of 145.425.
FLOOR
The Panthers made a statement in the final rotation, tying the No. 9 team floor score in program history at 49.275 as well as their best score of the season. Three Panthers earned career highs: Petrikis (9.900), sophomore Kiley Robatin (9.875) and Herbine (9.825). Junior Jordan Ceccarini posted a season-best 9.875 on the event. Pitt closed the door on the meet with two wins, scoring 194.700.
