Pitt Softball Announces Fall Schedule

Panthers to Host All Eight Fall Contests
PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh head coach Jodi Hermanek announced the 2019 softball fall schedule Wednesday afternoon, which features eight home games as the team prepares for its 2020 season.
The Panthers will face off against Slippery Rock, West Liberty, Saint Francis (PA), Fairmont State and Robert Morris throughout their fall season. All games will be played at Vartabedian Field in the Peterson Sports Complex and will be free to the public.
Pitt will open its fall season Sunday, Sept. 29 at noon with a matchup against Slippery Rock before playing a 2 p.m. contest against West Liberty. The Rock and Hilltoppers will then face off at 4 p.m. to close out the day.
The following Saturday, Oct. 5, the Panthers will compete against Saint Francis (PA) in a doubleheader, with the first game set to begin at 2 p.m.
The Panthers will take on Fairmont State in their second doubleheader of the weekend Sunday, Oct 6. The two teams will begin play at 1 p.m.
Pitt will close out its fall season with a doubleheader against Robert Morris Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 1 p.m.
The Panthers return 13 players from their spring 2019 roster in seniors Walker Barbee, Alexee Haynes, Kaitlyn Kruger and Connor McGaffic, redshirt junior Brittany Knight, juniors Morgan Batesole, Brie Horrell, Hunter Levesque and Chandler Walter and sophomores Hannah Bach, Abby Edwards, Katlyn Pavlick and Sarah Seamans.
Pitt also welcomes seven newcomers to the fold in junior LoLo Sanchez, redshirt sophomore Jada Crittendon and freshmen Hope Alley, Kayla Lane, Taegen Lewellen, Becca Miller and Makenzie Stiles. Sanchez joins the Panthers after spending the past two seasons at Mercer, while Crittendon comes to the team following two years at fellow ACC school Virginia Tech.
