#ProPanthers Update – Returning to Action

PITTSBURGH – After spending time on the IL this season, former University of Pittsburgh baseball players have returned to action without missing a beat, making major contributions to their respective clubs.
After spending just over a month on the IL, former Panthers pitcher and 2016 first-round draftee T.J. Zeuch has made his way back up to Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons. In his first start for Buffalo on June 22 against the Norfolk Tides, the righty went 5.2 scoreless, allowing only two hits and striking out five to collect his first win of the season with the Bisons. Before being called up to the Bisons, Zeuch made two rehab assignments with the Dunedin Blue Jays, striking out 12 batters in 8.2 innings.
Ranked the No. 12 prospect in the Blue Jay's system coming into this season, Zeuch looks to build off his impressive 2018 campaign with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In 2018, the Mason, Ohio native turned heads with New Hampshire, boasting a 3.08 ERA in 120 innings to pick up a 9-5 record.
Playing in four games since returning from his stint on the IL, 2018 draftee Liam Sabino has been finding his swing for the Rookie-Advanced club Johnson City Cardinals. In his fourth game of the season, the 35th-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals was able to showcase his talent as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a home run, against the Greeneville Reds. In his first game back from injury, Sabino went 1-for-3 with a triple in a game against the Pulaski Yankees on June 19.
In his first season in the Cardinals organization last year, Sabino took Johnson City by storm, averaging .339 with a .431 on-base percentage in 19 games. The righty hitter also blasted out three home runs and knocked in 11 runs during that span with the Rookie-Advanced club. With the Cardinals, Sabino had eight multi-hit games, including a span of seven games in a row near the end of the season while going on a 12-game hit streak during that stretch.
