Gray Becomes Second Student-Athlete in School History to Earn Four All-ACC Academic Team Honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh softball player Olivia Gray has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by league officials Thursday afternoon.
Gray has now been named to the All-ACC Academic Team in each of her four years at Pitt, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to do so.
She is also just the second student-athlete in school history to accomplish the feat, joining former football player Adam Bisnowaty.
"Olivia Gray is a special and remarkable individual who exemplifies the Gold Standard of Pitt Athletics," said head coach Jodi Hermanek. "We are proud that she represents Pitt softball alongside her teammates and among her academic peers."
Gray, who was voted to the All-ACC Second Team last month, competed in just 33 games after battling an injury early in the 2019 season. In her 33 appearances, she amassed a .280 batting average and .429 on-base percentage while adding 26 hits, 25 walks, 22 runs, 20 RBI, seven home runs and five doubles.
The Washington, Pa., native closes out her career with multiple marks in the program record book. Gray currently owns the single-game assist record after collecting 10 assists in a matchup against UCF Feb. 12, 2017, and finished the 2018 season ranked third in program history for single-season assists with 173.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
