July 15
Outfielder Kyle Hess connected on his first home run of the 2019 Cape Cod League season, lifting the Bourne Braves to a 2-1 victory over the Harwich Mariners with a two-run shot. Hess belted a two-run homer in the second inning, allowing the Braves to take an early lead they would not surrender.
After a slow start to the season, Hess has been hot lately, raising his average nearly 70 points over his last seven games. On the season the rising sophomore is hitting .233 with 10 hits, including two doubles and one homer, tallying three RBI and six runs.

As the race for the postseason heats up in the Cape Cod League, outfielder Kyle Hess has gotten on a hot streak for the Bourne Braves, collecting at least one hit in three of his last four games, including his first multi-hit performance of the season in a 6-4 win over Cotuit.
Hess collected a pair of singles and scored in run in the Braves road win over the Kettleers and has raised his average nearly 80 points over his last five games. The sophomore has collected eight hits in 14 games, tallying two doubles, one RBI, five runs and a pair of walks.
July 1
Rising sophomore Billy Corcoran earned his first win as a starter on the Cape, leading the Hyannis Harbor Hawks past the Bourne Braves on June 30. Corcoran made his third appearance of the season for the Harbor Hawks in the 4-2 victory. Corcoran tossed a solid 5.0 frames, letting up two runs off five hits, only one of which was extra bases, and one walk, whiffing four. After a tough first outing, Corcoran has been solid for Hyannis over his past two, letting up just two runs on seven hits and two walks in 8.0 innings, striking out six.
Reliever Chase Smith also collected a win on Sunday, tossing 2.2 frames for the Y-D Red Sox in a 5-2 win over the Brewster Whitecaps. Smith held the Whitecaps scoreless in his fifth appearance of the summer, letting up just two hits and collecting a pair of strikeouts. Smith improved his record to 2-0 on the season, boasting a 1.22 ERA in 7.1 innings, having let up just four hits and three walks, tallying seven strikeouts.
June 23
Reliever Chase Smith earned his first victory of the season in the prestigious Cape Cod League, leading the Y-D Red Sox to a doubleheader split the Falmouth Commodores. Smith tossed 2.2 frames for the Red Sox without allowing a run, hit or walk, fanning a pair as Y-D earned an 8-4 victory.
The rising junior has made three appearances on the season, having let up just one earned run in 4.2 innings, whiffing five with only two walks and one hit. Of pitchers with at least 4.0 innings of work, Smith paces the Red Sox with a 1.92 ERA.

June 19
Outfielder Kyle Hess put together a solid performance in Bourne’s 4-3 loss to the Brewster Whitecaps Tuesday, leading the offensive charge for the Braves.
Hess went 1-2 with a double and a walk, his first extra-base hit of the Cape Cod season.
June 18
Left-hander Mason Ronan helped the North Adams Steeplecats to another victory Monday evening, as the Pitt rising sophomore struck out six over 2.2 innings of work. The Steeplecats claimed a 7-6 victory as Ronan earned a no decision in his second start of the season.
On the year, Ronan has tossed 6.2 frames, recording a 2.70 ERA with 15 strikeouts. His strikeout mark paces the Steeplecats and ranks third in the NECBL.

June 16
Rising sophomore Kyle Hess put together a nice performance for the Bourne Braves in a 2-1 win over the Orleans Firebirds. Playing centerfield for the Braves, Hess went 1-2 with a single, scoring the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh after being hit by a pitch.

June 11
A pair of Panthers made their Cape Cod League debut on Opening Night, as Chase Smith and Kyle Hess saw playing time with the respective clubs.
Hess went 1-3, hitting out of the eight-spot and playing centerfield for Bourne, as the Braves fell to the Orleans Firebirds 2-0 on the road.
Smith was impressive in his debut, tossing 1.2 frames of relief, retiring all five batters he faced, three via strikeout. The right-hander earned a no decision as the Red Sox dropped a 4-3 contest to Cotuit on the road.

June 10

June 9
Rising sophomore Mason Ronan made his summer league debut, impressing in his first start for the North Adams Steeplecats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
While he didn’t earn a decision, Ronan put together a spectacular start, going 4.0 innings, allowing one run off two hits, walking three and striking out nine in the process. Though he’s made just one appearance, Ronan’s strikeout output is good for second best in the league.
The Steeplecats earned a 5-1 victory over the Upper Valley Nighthawks as the team has rattled off a franchise-best four wins to start the season.
