Five Pitt Wrestlers Ready to Compete at PPG Paints Arena
PITTSBURGH – For the first time since 1957, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships return to Pittsburgh beginning Thursday, March 20 and concluding Saturday, March 23 at PPG Paints Arena. The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team will have five representatives competing on the national stage.
Representing the Panthers are redshirt freshman Micky Phillippi (133), redshirt junior Taleb Rahmani (157), redshirt freshman Nino Bonaccorsi (184), redshirt junior Kellan Stout (197) and junior Demetrius Thomas (285).

LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt earned a fourth place finish at the 2019 ACC Wrestling Championship Saturday, March 9 as two Panthers were crowned champions.
- Phillippi earned the 133-pound title and was also named the ACC Most Valuable Wrestler for his efforts. He became just the second Pitt wrestler to collect the honor as Tyler Wilps also accomplished the feat in 2015.
- Thomas captured the heavyweight title, becoming the first to do so in Pitt history.
- Four Panthers punched tickets to the NCAA Championships including Phillippi, Thomas, redshirt junior Taleb Rahmani and redshirt freshman Nino Bonaccorsi.
- With the automatic bid, Rahmani became a three-time NCAA qualifier.
