Costly Third Inning Leads to Panther Defeat
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell to Liberty, 4-1, in its midweek matchup Wednesday afternoon at Kamphuis Field in Lynchburg, Va.
Senior Taylor Rahach started on the mound for the Panthers, allowing three hits and three earned runs in 2.0 innings of action. Freshman Abby Edwards entered the circle in the third inning to relieve Rahach, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out one in 4.0 innings on the mound.
Senior Gabrielle Fredericks collected Pitt's lone hit of the contest, going 1-for-3 on the day, with junior Walker Barbee and sophomores Morgan Batesole and Hunter Levesque also recording walks in the matchup.

Pitt scored its lone run of the contest in the following frame, putting the score at 3-1. Fredericks opened the inning with a leadoff double down the left field line, with freshman Hannah Bach then entering the game as a pinch runner.
