Panthers Clash with Cavaliers to Conclude Regular Season
PITTSBURGH – The 15th-ranked University of Pittsburgh wrestling team concludes the 2018-19 regular season in Charlottesville, Va., Friday night taking on No. 23 Virginia at Memorial Gym.

LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt recorded its 12th win of the year after defeating the Duke Blue Devils, 20-19, Friday, Feb. 15 at the Fitzgerald Field House.
- The matches were split down the middle, five wins for each team, bringing the team score to 19-15 in favor of Duke entering the final bout.
- At heavyweight, junior Demetrius Thomas came up clutch, contributing the bonus points needed to lift the Panthers to victory.
THE SERIES
- The Panthers and Cavaliers clash for the seventh time in program history Friday night.
- Pitt leads the all-time series 5-1.
- In their last meeting Feb. 16, 2018 in Pittsburgh, the Panthers dominated Virginia, 28-9, at the Petersen Events Center on Senior Night.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
- Virginia enters the weekend 12-9 overall with a 1-3 mark against ACC foes. The lone conference win came against Duke Feb. 9, 26-17.
- The Cavaliers have two ranked wrestlers in this week's InterMat rankings in No. 5 Jack Mueller at 125 pounds and No. 10 Jay Aiello at 197 pounds.
- Seven Virginia wrestlers are ranked in the second of four NCAA Division I Coaches' Panel Rankings, released Feb. 14.

- Demetrius Thomas has come up clutch for the Panthers on four occasions this year, lifting them to victory in the final bout.

LOOKING AHEAD
