Panthers Head to FIU TYR Fall Classic

PITTSBURGH—Pitt swimming & diving heads on the road for the first time of the 2019-20 season this weekend for a two-day meet in Miami as a select group of Panthers compete at the FIU TYR Fall Classic.
Representing the Panthers on Friday and Saturday at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center will be some of Pitt's top athletes in both swimming and diving against individuals from hosting FIU as well as TCU, LSU, FAU, Army, George Washington, Grand Canyon and Keiser.
"We're looking to bring energy to this meet and create a strong starting point to build off this season," Pitt head coach John Hargis said. "This will be the first time our athletes truly compete as individuals, head-to-head, so we're excited about the opportunity to perform well. This meet provides a unique format with some strategy involved, and we're aiming to have a productive two days in Florida."
The Pitt women's roster will feature swimmers Daisy Anderson, Valerie Daigneault, Tatum Detwiler, Dakota Elliott, Sarah Giamber, Kayla Graham, Shahar Menahem, Madison Nalls and Madelyn Shaffer and divers Serena Buchwald and Amy Read.
For the men, the Panthers will be led by swimmers Ellis Cannon, Jerry Chen, Wojciech Dutkowiak, Samy Helmbacher, Armin Remenyi, Blaise Vera and Eben Vorster and divers Wesley Ahart and Josh Parquet.
Friday's action will begin at 4 p.m. with the 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle relay, women's 1-meter diving and men's 3-meter diving.
The meet will conclude on Saturday as events begin at 10 a.m. with the 200-yard medley relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly, 200-yard individual medley, 400-yard freestyle relay, women's 3-meter diving and men's 1-meter diving.
