Pitt to Close out Fall Play against Robert Morris Saturday
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team will conclude its fall ball season against Robert Morris in a doubleheader Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Vartabedian Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.

- The Panthers split a doubleheader against Saint Francis (PA) Saturday, Oct. 5.
- Pitt was unsuccessful in the first game, ultimately dropping the contest 6-7 nine innings.
- In the first game, freshman Hope Alley hit a bases-clearing double, sending sophomores Sarah Seamans and Katlyn Pavlick to home plate.
- The Panthers proved victorious in their second game of the day, earning a 6-0 victory over the Red Flash.
- Junior catcher Brie Horrell added two consecutive points for the Panthers in the sixth inning, returning home on a hit from junior LoLo Sanchez and later hitting a homerun over the center wall.
- On Sunday, the Panthers earned two wins against Fairmont State, recording a 4-1 victory in the first game and an 8-1 victory in the second.
- On Pitt's first at-bat of the second game, junior Hunter Levesque hit one out of the park to start the scoring for the Panthers.
- Other notable performances from the Panthers comes in outfielder Pavlick, who homered on two of her three at-bats of the second contest.
- Robert Morris concluded the 2019 spring season 14-37 overall, notching a 5-9 record in Northeast Conference play.
- Returning for the Colonials is senior infielder Natalie Higgins, who earned a spot on the 2019 All-NEC Second team after hitting .303 overall, recording 7 home runs, and 23 RBIs in 42 games.
- Sophomores Kristyna Mala and Dana Vatakis also return for Robert Morris after being selected to the 2019 All-NEC Rookie Team. Mala recorded a .250 batting average on the season to go along with 10 runs and 18 hits in 51 games, while Vatakis finished 9-14 overall in 29 games and earned a .983 fielding percentage.
- Returning for the Panthers are seniors Walker Barbee, Alexee Haynes, Kaitlyn Kruger, and Connor McGaffic, redshirt junior Brittany Knight, juniors Morgan Batesole, Horrell, Levesque, and Chandler Walter, and sophomores Hannah Bach, Abby Edwards, Pavlick, and Seamans.
- One of Pitt's most notable returners is Levesque, who earned All-ACC Second Team honors. In her second year as a Panther at center field, Levesque complied a team-best .322 batting average and a .611 slugging percentage.
NEWCOMERS
- The Panthers also welcome seven newcomers to the team in transfers redshirt sophomore Jada Crittendon and junior Sanchez, as well as freshmen Alley, Kayla Lane, Taegen Lewellen, Becca Miller, and Makenzie Stiles.
- Crittendon comes to the Panthers following two years at Virginia Tech, while Sanchez spent the past two seasons at Mercer.
