Panthers, Hokies Clash in ACC Matchup
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's soccer team [5-4-2, 1-2-1 ACC] is set to face No. 22 Virginia Tech [6-2-2, 0-2-2 ACC] conference action Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.

- Pitt beat Howard 6-0 Monday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
- Five different Panthers scored on the night, including freshman Valentin Noel, redshirt freshmen Anthony Harding and Alec Townsend, sophomore Rodrigo Almeida and junior Edward Kizza. Kizza scored two goals in the win.
- The Panthers dominated the game, attempting 30 totals shots. Pitt finished with the advantage in shots, 30-2, and corners, 5-1.
THE SERIES - VIRGINIA TECH
- Pitt and Virginia Tech clash for the 10th time in program history Friday.
- The Hokies lead the all-time series, 5-0-4.
- The two teams have met every year since 2013. In that time, Virginia Tech leads the series 3-0-3.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
- Virginia Tech comes to Pittsburgh ranked No. 22 with just two losses under its belt, coming against ACC foes North Carolina and Louisville.
- The Hokies are led by junior Kristo Strickler, who's pacing the squad with 19 points off eight goals this season.
- In goal, junior Mathijs Swaneveld has played and started all 10 games for Virginia Tech. He has 30 saves on the season with 13 goals allowed for a 0.698 save percentage.
- The Hokies concluded the 2018 season 11-7-3 overall when they lost to James Madison 3-0 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. It was Virginia Tech's third-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

- The Panthers will hit the road for the first time in two weeks to take on Penn State Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Virginia Friday, Oct. 18.
- The Panthers' next home game will be Friday, Oct. 25 versus Duke.
